Crafts with Ekopel 2K!

By: April Greenlaw

In this blog we will be talking about epoxy crafts that can be done with epoxy resins like Ekopel 2K. The first thing to know about when working with epoxy resins is that epoxies are like a science. Every epoxy or resin kit has specific instructions so we want to make sure to follow them exactly! Ekopel 2K you want to mix both Part A with Part B really well. Make sure you get the bottom and sides of the can. Mix by hand for ten minutes, then let rest for five minutes, then mix again for another two to three minutes. Like I said working with epoxies is like a science if one thing is off the whole project will be off as well. Mixing well ensures that the epoxy dries and comes out the way you want it to. Once it is mixed you have about an hour to work with the epoxy so be sure to have everything ready and set up!

The second thing you will want to know about epoxy crafts is what type of projects can be made with epoxy. The possibilities are endless!! People are always coming out with cool new unique things to make!! I would start off by googling some ideas or looking on Pinterest. This will give you some great ideas to get you thinking and brainstorming!! A quick visit to your local craft store you can purchase molds, wood, and other things to use epoxy on. Here are some popular ideas of things made from epoxy:

  • Countertops
  • Jewelry Boxes
  • Jewelry
  • Coasters

  • Paint Pouring Art

The third thing to know about epoxy crafts is what types of surfaces you can epoxy. The possibilities here are almost endless too! You can pour epoxy resin on almost any surface! I like to say Ekopel 2K is like shiny glue, it will stick to almost anything. Some popular ideas include:

  • Bathtubs
  • Sinks
  • Countertops
  • Metal
  • Wood
  • Stone
  • Concrete
  • Canvas
  • Silicone Molds
  • Tiles

The last thing about epoxy craft you will want to know is what can you add into the epoxy? You can add almost anything into the epoxy! This is where you can really get creative and make your project you!! In short here are some popular things to add in:

  • Pigments and Dyes
  • Glitter
  • Gold Leaf
  • Pressed or Artificial Flowers
  • Beads

So now you know the basics and important things to get you started on your epoxy project journey! I hope this gave you some cool ideas and made you curious about what you can epoxy. Be sure to stay tuned for next week's blog! This blog is the first craft series blog. Next week we will go over how to make an Epoxy cup cake stand, now that we've covered the basics!
